Job Title: Afternoon Extended Day Assistant
Division/Department: Village School & 6th Grade, Auxiliary Services
Reports to: Extended Day Manager
Location: Palos Verdes Peninsula
Type of position/FLSA - Non-Exempt
Salary Band: 10 Month Part-Time Non-Exempt Employee
POSITION SUMMARY
The afternoon Extended Day Assistant supervises Kindergarten through 6th grade students during various duties, including afternoon activities and extended care time. In addition, they support K-6 teachers as needed.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise Village students during lunch, recess and after-school care
- Work with Village Directors regarding student behavior issues as needed and follow internal protocols
- Accompany students to specialist teachers/classrooms as needed
- Communicate observations about students to teachers, parents and Administration when needed
- Assist Extended Day Manager with after-school tracking for billing each month as needed
- Other: Playground - ensure that all school space and equipment is left clean and orderly
- Available to work approximately 11:30 a.m. until 6:00pm, may be less if few students in Extended Day. (6 hours)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, education, experience and skill requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Skills:
- High School graduation required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Flexible and reliable
- Good communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Experience working with young students preferred
Compensation - $21.00 - $24.00 – Based on qualifications and experience.
Work Environment and Physical Requirement
- Required to lift and carry up to a maximum of 25 lbs., in a correct manner consistent with the appropriate training provided by the School.
- Occasionally required to use hand feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
- May use telephone, computer, copier, and other office equipment in the course of a day.
- Required to sit while operating word processing equipment for a few hours daily, repetitive motion for typing and other keystroke needs.
