Job Description:
The WAE- Research Associate 2 will assist with laboratory and field activities of the Lower Trophic Level project as part of the Marine Community Ecology Laboratory.
Job Responsibilities:
70% Participates in field research and sampling. Occasional field work on small and large vessels, sometimes overnight trips. Assists with benthic invertebrate identification in the laboratory. Conducts quality control sampling for lab/research projects requiring a considerable knowledge of lab procedures and protocol.
20% Conducts routine computer analysis of research data requiring basic computer skills. Writes project summary reports or provides assistance in preparing manuscripts.
10% Assists other researchers in developing new lab/research procedures and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Geology, Environmental Sciences or related degree.
1 year experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Marine Sciences
3 -5 years experience.
Specific Experience:
Invertebrate species identification, fieldwork
Competencies:
Research experience in a science related field Proficient
Strong written and oral communications Proficient
