Job Summary
Joe Coffee is seeking highly skilled baristas with extensive hospitality experience for “high touch” event work throughout NYC and the surrounding area. Candidates should be curious, service-oriented, able to self-manage, and express their already exceptional hospitality skills. Our events range in location, style, menu, and execution. Candidates should welcome the opportunity to problem-solve and contribute to a fine dining experience that is reflective of excellence.

Invitational Hospitality

• Inspire conversation with guests
• Creatively manage guest expectations
• Playfully represent Joe Coffee with personal expression and trustworthy competence

Coffee Execution

• Continually maintain high-quality espresso/coffee/drink service
• Pour latte art
• Continually improve thoughtful bar flow in non-standard locations/circumstances
• Keep service station tidy and attractive

• Dynamically adjust effort to current situations
• Prioritize guest experience under shifting challenges
• Maintain personal health and well-being

Team Orientation

• Comfortably communicate needs
• Offer help/coaching with grace
• Maintain tight control of personal schedule and how it interfaces with offered/accepted shifts

Personal Grooming Standards

• Self-present in a neat, clean, and non-distracting fashion
• Express personal style when dress code permits
• Dynamically balance style/uniform requirements appropriately

Qualifications

Requirements

• Food Handler’s License
• 5 years of Specialty Coffee barista experience
• Experience in high-volume, high-stress service execution
• Competence in chat apps (specifically Google Chat)
• Physical capability to:
  • Regularly lift and move 50-70 lbs of coffee equipment
  • Stand for ~8 hours

Preferred Capabilities

• 1 year of event/catering experience
• Driver’s license and comfort driving a cargo van in NYC
• Engaging charisma
• Experience in packing/moving/logistics
• Bilingual
• Sense of urgency
