POSITION OVERVIEW:
Title: Sterile Technician
Reports To: Lead RDA
Wage Range: $22.30- $25.50 Per Hour
Schedule: M-F; 8-5, or assigned
Status: Non Exempt
Summary: Under the supervision of the Lead RDA, performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable Dental instrumentation and equipment. The Sterile Processing Technician is also responsible for assuring that dental operatories are adequately cleaned, disinfected, and ready for patients; they will also be responsible for the preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies. The Sterile Technician will perform other duties as assigned or required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (will include, but not be limited to)
- Decontaminate and sterilize instruments, dental supplies, and equipment in accordance with standard precautions.
- Assemble and sterilize instrument cassettes following established protocols.
- Ensure proper functionality of instruments and dental equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain high-quality work standards within established deadlines.
- Work independently or under supervision while maintaining open and effective communication with managers and colleagues.
- Manage resources efficiently and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Uphold the highest standards of performance, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of TMWIHC’s objectives and a genuine enthusiasm for contributing to the organization’s success.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Interact professionally and build positive, collaborative relationships with staff and patients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience (one of the following patterns required):
- Pattern I: Completion of a Dental Assistant Training Program with a Dental Assisting Certificate.
OR - Pattern II: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and at least two (2) years of experience working in a dental office setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and office practices and procedures.
- Two (2) or more years of experience working with the Native American population in a healthcare setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods; climbing stairs and step-stools; stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and reaching; pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 30 pounds; and raising objects overhead. The role also requires manual dexterity for operating computers and phones, as well as hearing, talking, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers are involved. The employee may be subject to outdoor environmental conditions such as heat and cold, and will be required to walk on uneven ground. The position also requires the ability to safely operate and drive a motor vehicle.
