An exciting opportunity awaits you with Northern California Fertility Medical Center (NCFMC), a leading fertility practice in the Northern California area! Our Sacramento location is seeking a full-time, on site, Patient Care Coordinator.
General Summary of Duties:
PCC’s function as a liaison between patients and NCFMC operational staff, physicians and nurses. Gathers and documents all relevant pre-cycle clinical data prior to nursing assignment and/or cycle start. Educates patients regarding cycle processes and requirements.
Essential Functions:
Pre-cycle preparation tasks, which include:

Requesting medical records and locating relevant lab work, when indicated
-
Ensuring all labs are completed prior to cycle start and any abnormal findings are brought to the physician’s attention
-
Ensuring completed cycle orders are in the EHR
-
Ensuring insurance authorizations are in place for cycle
-
Arranging for all cycle related appointments
-
Other duties as assigned
Electronic Health Record data entry, which include:
-
Clinical task review and distribution, when indicated
-
Data entry of lab results
-
Scanning and uploading external documents into the EHR
-
Re-verification of demographic and insurance data, when indicated
Patient education tasks, which include:
-
Communicating/Meeting with patients regarding cycle requirements and process
-
Patient Portal training and troubleshooting
-
Inform patients on general cycle timelines
-
Relay physician and nursing messages to patients
-
Inform patients on pricing, not limited to: labs, pre-cycle procedures/testing and non-insurance covered services
-
Review labs with patient and instruct patient specific protocols for collection
-
Inform patients of needed treatment insurance authorizations
Genetic Testing tasks, which include:
-
Collate Donor Sperm genetic testing for physician review
-
Assist Nursing Coordinators and Physicians with genetic testing lab requisitions and input into corresponding applications
-
Data submission for PGT-M or PGT-SA
Administrative tasks, which include:
-
Prep temporary charts for Nursing Coordinators ensure all applicable tasks have been completed (MPOC form)
-
Sending referrals e.g. Cardiology, Genetic Counseling, Maternal Fetal Medicine and MRI
-
Completion of patient related forms e.g. FMLA
-
Cover 207 line and front desk, as needed
-
Other duties as assigned
Experience:
-
Two years’ experience in an infertility and/or OB/GYN setting, preferred
-
Medical Assisting background helpful
Education:
-
High school diploma, some college preferred
Knowledge:
-
Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty
-
Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to infertility/OB-GYN
-
Knowledge of information to be conveyed to patients and families
Skills:
-
Electronic Health Record functionality
-
Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions

Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families
Abilities:

Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures

Ability to project a pleasant and professional image

Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks

Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others

Ability to manage multiple tasks such as data entry, reviewing lab results with providers and making patient calls back in a short time
