John Deere Sponsored Technician Training Program

Partner with James River Equipment at Wake Tech Community College as a John Deere Sponsored Technician

This program is a supervised work experience that accompanies a two-year Associate of Applied Science program through Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh, NC. The courses provide a John Deere-based curriculum of both classroom and lecture and laboratory experiences. Sponsored technicians in the program choose between either:

• Agricultural Equipment Mechanic Program
• Construction & Forestry Mechanic Program

On-the-job training at a sponsoring dealership is a requirement of enrollment for this two-year program. Students attend classes in person part of the week and work as apprentice technicians at their home James River Equipment location outside of class/lecture/lab times. Sponsored technician positions are paid internships, and sponsored technicians are provided tools in addition to uniforms by James River Equipment.

Sponsored John Deere Techs continue into full-time mechanic positions with James River Equipment upon successful completion of training and degree requirements. Tuition is reimbursed incrementally once in a full-time mechanic position with James River Equipment.

Requirements Include:

• High school students interested in a John Deere technician degree are encouraged to submit an application. Candidates seeking this degree as a second career option post-high school are also eligible to apply.
• References as well as school transcripts will be requested prior to interview.
• In person interview will be required for candidates at the James River Equipment branch closest to their home base.
• Mechanical aptitude assessment required to be completed.
