Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our civil litigation team. This role is well suited for an attorney with a solid litigation foundation who is ready to take on increased responsibility and work across a diverse portfolio of matters in Hartford, CT. The Associate Attorney will handle cases involving insurance defense, professional liability, construction, employment, medical malpractice defense, and long-term care. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement following an initial probationary period and is ideal for someone who thrives in a client-focused, results-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage a civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal memoranda
- Conduct thorough legal research to support litigation strategy
- Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Assist in developing case strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys
- Communicate regularly with clients through status updates and written reports
- Coordinate with experts, opposing counsel, and internal support teams
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Admission to the Connecticut State Bar or eligibility for admission through an adequate UBE score
- 3-8 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or a related practice area
- Experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters while meeting deadlines and client expectations
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $115,000–$130,000 depending on experience + discretionary bonus
