Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The Mohs Technician will work under the direction of the Mohs Surgeons and will assist the physician(s) in the care of the Mohs patients to assure optimal medical care.
Mon-Fri 7:00-5:00
MUST be willing to travel daily to additional locations (reimburse mileage & Travel pay)
Wage-$21-$23 Based on experience
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing, freezing, and cutting tissue along with frozen sections using cryostat
- Staining tissue (slides)
- Maintaining Mohs lab and ordering supplies as necessary
- Maintaining storage and organization of slides
- Preparation of all materials and reagents used in the Mohs lab with proper handling and disposal
- Maintaining and updating CLIA records/logs
- Maintaining Mohs log for patient identification
- Maintaining Quality Control (QC) logs as required per CLIA regulation, including, but not limited to: daily cryostat temperature, stainer log, room humidity log, DTM control log along with case QC, daily Mohs case QC for slides
- Conform to all applicable HIPAA, CLIA and safety guidelines
- Train others as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years’ experience performing hands on Mohs Tech Duties, including processing specimens and ensuring CLIA standards are met.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education equivalent to an associate's degree with at least 60 semester hours to include either 24 in medical lab technology or 24 hours with (6-chemistry, 6-biology and 12 in chemistry, biology, medical technology in any combination) AND three months documented lab training in high complexity testing by specialty or completion of an approved department of Health and Human Services HHS lab training program (ABHES, CAHEA).
- Associate's degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical lab technology.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and working at a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. at times
