About the Role
This Site Reliability Engineer III role is a senior, hands-on position serving as the PostgreSQL subject-matter expert across a modern, cloud-native data platform. You'll play a critical role in database architecture, performance, reliability, security, and observability, partnering closely with application, security, and platform teams.
What You'll Own
You'll partner directly with platform, architecture, and product engineering teams to:
Design services that don't accumulate tech debt
Migrate legacy on-prem .NET systems to .NET 8 + AWS in a regulated, high-integrity environment
Build internal tooling and services in Rust for security, performance, and cost efficiency
Optimize PostgreSQL on AWS RDS (indexes, query plans, concurrency)
Own observability end-to-end with Datadog (instrumentation, tracing, custom metrics, SLOs)
Identify and eliminate operational toil at scale
This is an ownership role. You build it, ship it, and stand behind it.
Must Have
You started as a Software Engineer and transitioned into SRE / Production Engineering
3–7+ years owning and shipping production services in C# (.NET 6/7/8)
Strong Python for tooling, automation, and pipelines
Real ownership of observability (Datadog experience is a plus — depth can be trained)
U.S. work authorization
Strong Advantages
Real Rust experience (or strong systems language background in Go/C++)
Experience in fintech or regulated environments (Capital One, Chase, Goldman, Robinhood, etc.)
Deep PostgreSQL optimization experience
Prior work in HIPAA, PCI, or other regulated environments
Benefits
Remote-first U.S. role with occasional in-person planning sessions
Entrepreneurial, collaborative team where individuals have real ownership and voice
Sustained growth with room to expand scope, skills, and career path
Strong investment in learning & development, including mentoring and training
Competitive compensation with geographic adjustments
Well-rounded benefits, including:
Medical, dental, and vision coverage
401(k) with company match and profit sharing
Paid parental leave and family-building benefits
Generous PTO starting day one + paid holidays
Fully covered life, disability, and employee assistance programs
