Wholesale Nursery Counter Sales Schertz - Full-time

Mortellaro's Nursery, LTD is a longstanding, family-owned wholesale plant supplier serving the state of Texas since 1956.  Over the years, we have provided quality groundcovers, shrubs, and trees to landscapers and nurseries across the state.  We are seeking a Counter Salesperson to join our team.  This individual will work at our main office location, alongside our sales team, servicing our customer base.  Prior to any office training, this candidate will be required to work outdoors with our Shipping and Order Loading Crews for a period to learn our plant inventory, quality, and selection standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist customers with plant purchases for pick up or delivery by telephone, email, or in person,
2. Provide plant specifications, growth habits, suggestions, and substitutions based on current plant quantities and conditions,
3. Collect, enter, and process order details onto desktop computer for new and existing customers,
4. Generate invoices and collect payment,
5. Enter field area/nursery regularly to take current plant photos for website, maintain knowledge of current plant conditions, sizes, quality, and quantities available for sales,
6. General Housekeeping, and
7. Other plant sales related duties are to be performed on a rotational basis with supervision.

Physical Requirements During Initial Field Training Period:

1. Perform manual labor while working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions.
2. Lift up to 50 pounds. Assistance will be provided for heavier or bulky items.
3. Stand for long periods of time, endure extensive walking, and bend/stoop.

General Requirements:

1. Work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM*. Depending on the seasonal workload, it may be necessary to work before and/or after the scheduled start and end of day times. *Seasonal Saturday Rotation to begin once able to handle entire sales counter operation alone satisfactorily.
2. Submit to a Criminal Background Check.
3. Read, write, speak and comprehend English.
4. Knowledge of our product line and its growth habits.
5. Computer-literate, excellent organization, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
6. All applicants who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo and pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
7. Employees, thereafter, will undergo and pass random drug and alcohol testing.

Beneficial Skills:

1. Spanish speaker is helpful but not required.
