Student Support Specialist
Hours: Part-time, averaging 10–12 hours per week

The Student Support Specialist is a part-time (10–12 hours per week), frontline, student-facing position within the Academic Success Center (ASC). The Student Support Specialist helps students utilize essential college services and academic support resources, schedule tutoring and coaching appointments, complete required COLL-101 activities, and navigate student athlete study support. The Student Support Specialist provides immediate and personalized assistance to students seeking academic support. The role includes answering inquiries via phone, email, and in-person; connecting students to appropriate college services; asking informative and directional questions; and helping students resolve obstacles that may interfere with their academic success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for students seeking academic support.

  • Ask informative and directional questions to determine student needs.

  • Schedule tutoring, academic coaching, and related appointments.

  • Support over 1,300 COLL-101 students in their completion of required ASC assignments

  • Support over 75 Student Athletes completing mandatory study hours in the ASC and documenting session details for reporting to coaches and Athletics Department.

  • Respond to student outreach and general questions in a timely, accurate manner.

  • Assist students with navigating college systems.

  • Maintain accurate records of student visits and interactions.

  • Facilitate connection between students to appropriate campus resources as needed.

  • Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, equitable support environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 1-3 years related work experience or Associate's Degree and less than one year related work experience.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to guide students through questions and decision-making.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with tutors, coaches, and staff.

  • Commitment to equity, access, and student-centered service.

Hourly Range: $19.2351 - $20.5815 (commensurate with experience).
