Our client is searching for a Construction Engineer to join their team. What you will do:
- Oversee and coordinate construction activities for municipal infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules; address issues to keep projects on track
- Review design documents and provide feedback to consultants and contractors
- Conduct site visits to verify quality, safety, and adherence to standards
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, property owners, and internal teams to resolve challenges
- Prepare and review reports, cost estimates, and project documentation
- Assist with bid preparation, contract administration, and change order review
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as city policies
What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, civil engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or municipal infrastructure projects (roads, utilities, stormwater, etc.)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Iowa, or ability to obtain within 12 months (EIT considered if close to licensure)
- Strong communication and active listening skills; able to work effectively with consultants, property owners, and other stakeholders
- Outgoing, personable, and highly dependable with a strong work ethic
- Iowa DOT certifications (materials inspection, quality assurance) are a plus
