What You’ll Do


As an Ophthalmic Technician, you’ll play a vital role in the patient experience and clinical workflow by:

  • Assisting Ophthalmologists with patient workups, examinations, in-office procedures, and lasers
  • Accurately documenting ocular exams, assessments, and treatment recommendations in real time
  • Supporting patient understanding by reinforcing provider instructions and sharing educational materials
  • Maintaining smooth patient flow and clear communication regarding appointment status
  • Taking and documenting detailed patient medical histories
  • Administering ophthalmic medications, applying eye dressings, and instructing patients on care and treatment
  • Performing special testing and operating advanced ophthalmic equipment, including:
    • Auto Refractor, Retinoscope, Phoropter, Slit Lamp
    • Pentacam/Topography, Wavescan
    • IOL Master/Instar
    • Zeiss and Heidelberg OCT
  • Conducting Van Herick measurements, Worth 4-Dot testing, and stereopsis testing
  • Sterilizing instruments and maintaining ophthalmic equipment
  • Assisting patients with contact lens insertion and removal
Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and G-Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal and patient-care skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • A team player willing to support multiple areas of the clinic as needed

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant
  • COA or COT certification preferred
  • Commitment to maintaining required education, training, and licensure
