As a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), you will be essential in delivering direct rehabilitation services to patients, adhering to physician referrals and working under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). Your responsibilities will comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards, ensuring the highest level of care.
Qualifications and Licensure- Completion of an accredited physical therapy program (ASPT)
- Current registration or licensure in the relevant state, with an active license in good standing throughout your tenure
- Preferred: At least one (1) year of experience in post-acute care or a similar environment
- CPR certification is required upon hiring or to be obtained during orientation; must remain valid throughout employment
- Participate in community health initiatives and projects as needed
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
- Work collaboratively with patients, families, and support teams to effectively address patient needs
- Maintain proper body mechanics at all times
- Make independent decisions when required
- Familiar with practices, procedures, and regulations related to post-acute care facilities
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Exhibit proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Foster professional relationships with colleagues and vendors
- Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information
- Comply with organizational policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
- Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by adhering to the organization’s Code of Conduct and completing required training
- Implement physical therapy treatment plans under the supervision of the PT
- Document patient progress accurately and promptly
- Effectively utilize therapy software
- Provide outstanding customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
- Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary
- Exhibit reliable and consistent attendance
- Apply reasoning skills and sound judgment in all situations
- Communicate effectively and collaborate productively within an interdisciplinary team
- Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving throughout your working hours
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language proficiently
