Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a night shift Med/Surg position in Alexandria, LA, with a focus on post-surgical and neuro patients and a requirement for prior travel nursing experience.

• Acute Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
\n
• Patient population includes post-surgical patients (orthopedics, general surgery) and neurological populations
\n
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1–6:1 depending on staffing
\n
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
\n
• Weekends may be required based on scheduling needs
\n
• No on-call requirements
\n
• Floating to other units is possible
\n
• Epic EMR experience is a plus
\n
• 13-week contract
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active RN license in Louisiana or a valid Compact RN license
\n
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
\n
• At least one completed travel nursing assignment prior to consideration
\n
• 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
\n
• BSN preferred
\n

Additional Information\n

• Responsibilities include nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
\n
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side effects and treatment effectiveness
\n
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
\n
• Provides patient and family education, identifying learning needs and available resources
\n
• Ceil blue scrubs required
\n
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
\n
• Candidates who have previously worked at any CHRISTUS Health facility in a non-travel capacity must have been separated for at least 6 months before being considered for a travel assignment — this applies across the entire CHRISTUS Health System
\n
• Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
\n
