We are seeking an experienced Family Practice Physician Assistant for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in California, starting Jan 5, 2026. This position features day shifts, Monday through Friday, with 8-hour schedules and patient appointments set in 20-minute intervals. The assignment is ideal for professionals who are comfortable managing a steady patient flow and are willing to commit to a six-month contract.

• Provider Type Needed: Family Practice Physician Assistant
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm; patients scheduled every 20 minutes (including telehealth visits); telehealth scheduled before lunch and as last patient at 4pm, with remaining time for administrative work

Responsibilities and Duties

• Conduct outpatient visits, managing approximately 3 patients per hour
• Perform comprehensive family medicine assessments and treatments
• Manage telehealth and in-person patient visits as scheduled
• Perform pap smears and provide birth control management (preferred)
• Document clinical encounters accurately and efficiently
• Coordinate care and follow-up for ongoing medical needs
• Participate in administrative tasks as scheduled

Additional Information

• Must hold a current California PA license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine required
• At least 2 years of clinical experience preferred
• Experience in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) preferred
• Providers must have completed a successful assignment through Barton Associates
• Must be nationally certified as a Physician Assistant
• Six-month commitment required; candidates unable to commit will not be considered
• Credentialing can be completed in 20-30 days for providers with a clean background
• Providers must confirm understanding and comfort with the scheduling template and patient volume
