Kitchen Assistant Position Summary:
The role of the Kitchen Assistants plays a crucial role in the food service industry, aiding chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation. Their responsibilities often involve a variety of tasks, ranging from food preparation to cleaning duties. Kitchen Assistants are primarily tasked with assisting in food preparation and kitchen maintenance, with daily duties and responsibilities including:
Job Responsibility Highlights:
- Assist chefs in preparing meals and plating dishes as required
- Keep the kitchen area clean, organized, and well-stocked
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
- Handle food storage, rotation, and disposal in compliance with food safety standards
- Assist in inventory control and order kitchen supplies as needed
- Carry out basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and cutting ingredients
- Dispose of kitchen waste responsibly and maintain sanitation standards
- Help in serving meals and managing portion control
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Six years’ experience as a kitchen assistant or similar role
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Manual dexterity able to handle kitchen utensils and appliances
- Strong team working and communication skills
- Physical strength and endurance to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school is a plus
