The Metrics & Reporting Analyst III is an experienced‑level analyst responsible for delivering high‑value financial, operational, and performance‑based insights that directly support decision‑making across the business. This role blends technical expertise with strong business partnership, using SQL, Tableau or QlikView/Qlik Sense, and advanced analytics to build dashboards, reporting tools, forecasting models, and performance metrics that improve operational efficiency and drive strategic outcomes. The Analyst III operates with a high degree of independence, collaborates closely with business stakeholders to understand both technical and functional needs, and helps elevate the organization’s analytical maturity through scalable reporting and data‑driven recommendations. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. + 4–6 years of experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, operational reporting, or performance measurement. + SQL proficiency (required). + Experience with Tableau or QlikView/Qlik Sense. + Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficient in PowerPoint and Word. + Experience with data‑mining/query tools. + Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving ability. + Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into reporting, dashboards, and insight‑driven recommendations. + Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex data to non‑technical audiences. + Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment and manage multiple deadlines. + Solid understanding of financial accounting principles and operational drivers. + Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and team‑oriented with the ability to work independently. **Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have** + Python experience (for automation, data prep, or analytics). + Experience with additional BI or data‑visualization tools. + Prior insurance industry experience (helpful but not required). **Duties & Responsibilities** + Performance Metrics, Analysis & Insights + Develop, maintain, and enhance performance metrics across assigned business areas using SQL and BI tools. + Create new KPIs and analytical frameworks aligned with business plans and operating assumptions. + Conduct expense variance analysis, forecasting, headcount analysis, and capacity modeling. + Perform complex data analysis to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and operational‑performance drivers. **Reporting & Forecasting** + Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for business leaders. + Support or lead the development of annual operating budgets, quarterly forecasts, and expense management routines. + Translate leadership directives into actionable reporting structures and insights. + Deliver ad hoc, customized reporting and analysis tailored to stakeholder needs. + Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all data sources and reporting outputs. **Tools, Dashboards & Automation** + Build, update, and automate dashboards and visualizations using Tableau or QlikView/Qlik Sense. + Use SQL to extract, transform, and optimize data for reporting and analytics. + Identify and implement reporting process improvements, streamlining workflows and increasing automation. + Contribute to feasibility analysis and participate in process, policy, and system enhancements. + Maintain documentation for data logic, metric definitions, and reporting processes. **Business Partnership & Collaboration** + Act as a trusted business partner by interpreting data, offering recommendations, and supporting operational decision‑making. + Train managers on budget tools, expense methodology, and interpretation of key metrics. + Participate in business reviews and communicate analytical findings effectively. + Mentor less‑experienced analysts and support team development. **General Responsibilities** + Participate in or lead departmental and cross‑functional projects. + Maintain performance metric frameworks and ongoing reporting schedules. + Perform other duties as assigned. \#LI-AS3 ~IN1 Unum and Colonial Life are part of Unum Group, a Fortune 500 company and leading provider of employee benefits to companies worldwide. The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience. $63,500.00-$120,000.00 Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
