Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Medium Voltage Electrical Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining medium voltage electrical systems for industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems engineering, equipment integration, and compliance with applicable electrical standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions that align with QES’s commitment to technical excellence and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop medium voltage electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, and protection schemes.
- Prepare one-line diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, and detailed design documentation.
- Perform load analysis, short circuit calculations, arc flash studies, and other system evaluations.
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEMA, and UL standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, manufacturing teams, and field engineers to support installations and commissioning.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support during system testing and operation.
- Evaluate and select electrical components and materials to meet project specifications.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation throughout design and implementation.
- Stay current with industry trends, standards, and best practices in medium voltage system design
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in medium voltage or industrial power systems engineering.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar electrical design software.
- Strong understanding of power distribution, grounding, protection, and control systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA, PLC integration, and industrial automation systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of medium voltage switchgear, protection relays, and power system modeling tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality results under deadlines.
