Job Description
IT Manager
Position Summary
The IT Manager is responsible for the daily execution, uptime, and continuous improvement of Novatech’s internal technology environment. This role blends hands-on operational leadership with strategic planning across infrastructure, identity, and security fundamentals.
The IT Manager partners closely with Managed IT Security, outsourced support providers, and internal teams to drive stability, enforce standards, and mature Novatech’s internal IT roadmap. This is an IT operations leader who can ask the right questions around security, identify gaps, and coordinate remediation with the appropriate teams.
Core Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Own the health, performance, and reliability of Novatech’s internal IT systems, networks, and endpoints.
- Direct day-to-day work across internal staff and outsourced partners, ensuring effective escalation handling and SLA compliance.
- Maintain and enforce SOPs for incident response, change management, service restoration, and IT governance.
- Provide hands-on remediation for escalated incidents, outages, and infrastructure issues.
- Develop short-term and long-term plans for internal IT growth, modernization, and risk reduction.
Security Awareness & Risk Coordination (Light Strategic Cyber Component)
- Identify vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, or operational security gaps across identity, endpoints, and network layers.
- Coordinate with the MIT Security team and external pen testers on remediation priorities and execution.
- Maintain secure baselines across internal systems by applying best practices rather than defining novel security strategy.
- Monitor compliance with authentication, access, patching, and configuration standards set by Security Operations.
- Serve as the first internal point of contact for security-related escalations, routing issues to Security Operations as needed.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage outsourced helpdesk and infrastructure partners, reviewing KPIs monthly and driving consistent performance.
- Maintain vendor relationships for IT hardware, cloud platforms, software, and infrastructure services.
- Evaluate vendor performance and alignment with Novatech’s operational and security requirements.
Procurement & Asset Management
- Oversee procurement lifecycle for all corporate IT equipment and services: forecasting, budgeting, ordering, and optimization.
- Maintain accurate asset inventories across field and corporate locations using SnipeIT.
- Streamline purchasing workflows in partnership with Finance and Purchasing to reduce delays and cost.
Infrastructure & Systems Execution
- Maintain robust configurations for endpoints, servers, networks, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Manage patching, lifecycle planning, and platform upgrades with an eye toward security and reliability.
- Partner with Security and Operations to execute remediation plans, system hardening, and compliance tasks.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring issues, eliminate root causes, and introduce automation or process improvements.
- Standardize workflows between internal teams and outsourced partners to ensure consistency.
- Maintain and publish monthly IT performance reports across uptime, incident trends, risk posture, and vendor SLAs.
Stakeholder Communication
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, HR, and Division Presidents to align IT with business needs.
- Communicate infrastructure events, risk items, and IT roadmaps in clear business terms.
- Provide leadership with transparency around upcoming initiatives, technology risks, and operational performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years in IT operations with 4+ years in a management or lead role.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, networking fundamentals, and endpoint management.
- Familiarity with security frameworks, vulnerability remediation, identity governance, and audit support.
- Proven ability to manage outsourced IT partners and hold vendors accountable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues into business impact.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- System uptime, MTTR, and incident recurrence trends
- SLA adherence from outsourced providers
- Procurement cycle efficiency
- Reduction in misconfigurations and operational security gaps
- Successful remediation coordination with MIT Security
- Vendor performance scorecards
- Execution of internal IT roadmap milestones
Who you are looking for, in plain language.
We’re looking for an IT Manager who knows how to keep things running smoothly day-to-day while also helping us mature our internal IT environment. We want someone who understands the basics of cybersecurity, knows what questions to ask, and can work closely with MSP Security Operations team when something needs attention. To be successful here, you need to be steady, practical, and organized. You keep systems stable, maintain clean operations, and deliver predictable results. You communicate clearly, especially with executives, vendors, and outsourced partners. You know how to take ownership of issues without creating noise, and you bring a calm, structured approach to problem-solving. The right person is hands-on enough to fix things when needed, strategic enough to think ahead, and confident enough to push for better processes and stronger alignment across teams. You don’t need deep security expertise, but you do need the judgment to spot gaps and escalate the right way. Most importantly, you need to work well with leadership, support the broader IT roadmap, and help us create a more mature, modern internal IT operation.
