Job Description: HR Generalist and Safety Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Human Resources and Safety Coordinator manages the day-to-day HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and employee relations, while also developing and implementing safety programs to reduce workplace hazards and injuries in compliance with OSHA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Administration & Recruitment: Manages full-cycle recruiting, posts job openings, screens resumes, and conducts background checks.
- Onboarding & Training: Facilitates new hire orientation, employee handbook reviews, and required safety training.
- Compliance & Records: Maintains personnel files, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, EEO) and keeps accurate I-9 records.
- Employee Relations: Addresses employee concerns, investigates conflicts, and supports managers with disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Safety & Risk Management:
- Conducts regular safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments of equipment and workspaces.
- Maintains OSHA 300 logs, SDS binders, and chemical inventories.
- Leads the Safety Committee and organizes safety meetings.
- Investigates accidents, near-misses, and handles worker's compensation claims.
- Payroll & Benefits: Assists with or processes payroll, tracks PTO, and administers health benefits.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
- Experience: 2–5 years of HR experience, ideally with 1–2 years focused on safety/compliance.
- Certifications: OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour card, SHRM-CP, or PHR preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of labor laws and OSHA regulations, proficiency in HRIS/payroll and Microsoft Office.
- Abilities: Excellent communication, multitasking, and conflict-resolution skills.
