Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Pharmacist Intern to join our team. This paid per diem internship offers hands-on experience in providing pharmaceutical care to residents of long-term care facilities, including nursing homes and assisted living communities. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will assist with medication management, patient counseling, and other essential pharmacy services to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers
- Participate in medication therapy management activities, including identifying potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications
- Provide clinical support by assisting in drug utilization reviews, monitoring patient progress, and communicating findings to the healthcare team
- Assist in maintaining pharmacy documentation and ensuring that pharmacy operations meet high standards of safety and accuracy
- Work closely with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and other members of the team to optimize medication therapy
- Perform “on-call” duties when required
Education, Knowledge and Skills:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) program
- Must be in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy, with an intern license
- Previous experience in Hospital and Retail pharmacy or other medical fields
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Proficient in the use of pharmacy software systems and Microsoft Office; Framework / ECM software knowledge a plus
