Junior Associate Attorney (Litigation)
Location: Hybrid (New Jersey–based; in-person appearances as needed)
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $92,500 - $125,000 (commensurate with experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Associate Attorney with 1-4 years of litigation experience to join a growing practice. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting matters involving public entities, personal injury, discrimination, and/or commercial litigation (plaintiff or defense).
This role offers hands-on litigation experience, close mentorship, and meaningful opportunities for professional growth. The position is hybrid, with the ability to work remotely while appearing in person for court appearances, depositions, hearings, and occasional office meetings.
Candidates must be comfortable working collaboratively, managing deadlines independently, and interacting with clients from diverse backgrounds and communities.
Required Qualifications
- Active New Jersey Bar license (required)
- New York Bar admission preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professionalism in client interaction and presentation
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong judgment in handling confidential and sensitive matters
- Commitment to integrity and social justice
- Ability to work both remotely and in person
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn and grow as an attorney
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Haitian Creole
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including mail merge, redlining, tables of contents, field codes, and complex formulas/macros
- Admission in both New Jersey and New York
Key Responsibilities
- Draft discovery requests and responses
- Take and defend depositions
- Draft and argue motions
- Second-chair trials and hearings; first-chair special civil or pro bono matters
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties
- Manage caseloads, deadlines, and internal assignments
- Assist in developing litigation, business, and settlement strategies
Associates may satisfy either a minimum billable hour requirement or an alternative fee realization requirement.
