School Bus Driver - Full-time

Position Title: School Bus Driver

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program.

Holds a valid driver's license for operation of the class vehicle and has at least one year's experience as a licensed motor vehicle operator:

Is at least 21 years of age and has held a driver's license for at least one year;

DOT Medical Card Annual Physical;

Safety and driver training provided by the district; and

Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check certificate eligibility required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The responsibilities outlined below are representative and do not encompass or define all tasks that may be required by this position.

1. Obeys all traffic laws.
2. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses/vans.
3. Maintains discipline when students are on bus/van.
4. Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
5. Keeps assigned bus/van clean.
6. Keeps to assigned schedule.
7. Checks bus and/or van before each operation for mechanical defects.
8. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
9. Discharges students only at authorized stops.
10. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips. 
11. Transports only authorized students.
12. Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
13. Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus/van.
