Job Description:
Gelest, Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is seeking a Quality Control Intern to join our Quality Control team for the summer.
The Quality Control Intern will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and documenting test results for raw materials, in-process, and final samples.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze specialty silanes, silicones, metal organics, acrylates, and other specialty chemicals in relation to their specifications.
Run basic analyses using Spectrometers, Gas Chromatography (GC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), Karl Fischer (KF), Viscometers, and wet chemistry.
Input analytical data into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to ensure proper product release or disposition
Adhere to all procedures for daily operations of the Quality Control Laboratory.
Communicate with the Laboratory Supervisor to ensure information is shared in a timely manner.
Log samples for testing and retains.
Other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Working knowledge of basic wet chemistry techniques, analytical instrumentation, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to safely handle and dispose of flammable and/or corrosive chemicals.
Ability to effectively follow plans and written procedures to adhere to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Ability to identify problems in a timely manner and communicate them effectively to supervisor.
Ability to react professionally under pressure and to treat others with respect.
Ability to write reports and complete analytical notebooks.
The ability to follow directions and instructions.
The ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information.
Must be able to read instructions and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) documents to determine hazards.
This internship is to be filled for a 10 to 12-week duration, during Summer 2026. Dates are flexible between May-September.
Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
Pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science related field.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Wear personal protective equipment as needed.
