Department Description
The safety of High Point University is enhanced by a professional security force, supplemented by officers with the High Point Police Department on a well-lit campus with a secured perimeter. Technological enhancements include Campus Assistance & Response to Emergency (C.A.R.E.) points (blue security call boxes), an expansive video system and a robust access control system.
Job Description
A Student Patrol Officer is a fully-uniformed team member who provides support for the Security Department.
Job Location/ Hours Required
The candidate will perform most/all job duties on (High Point University Campus). Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to (20) hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Parking enforcement
- Parking lot control and management (special/athletic events)
- Welcome Center staffing to include vehicle/pedestrian vetting and guest relations/way finding
- Assisting with room lockouts and motorist assists
- Writing incident supplemental reports as required
- Conducting facility safety and equipment checks
- Conducting CARE Point QA evaluations
- Effectively utilizing security radios to professionally communicate
- Professionally representing the security department by appearance and actions
- Duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
No criminal history, acceptable Office of Student Life conduct record, no vehicle moving violations within the past three years, no alcohol-related driving violations, Criminal Justice students.
Desired Skills:
- Must have a minimum (2.5) overall GPA
- Preferably upperclassman: sophomore - senior.
- Self-motivated, self-directed, decisive with an acute attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude
- Able to work independently
- Able to work outside in less-than ideal conditions
- Ability to don a security uniform in an impressive manner
- Maintain strict student privacy & confidentiality
- Flexible schedule; NTE 20hrs/week
