Rate of Pay: $16.50 � $20.91 per hour, commensurate with experience. This rate is set and non-negotiable.
Job Purpose
The Grounds & Maintenance Facilitator plays a vital role in ensuring Bishop Museum�s campus and facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming for staff, visitors, and community members. This position supports the Museum�s mission by maintaining the appearance of the grounds, performing general repairs, assisting with events, and ensuring equipment and facilities remain in good working condition.
Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain Museum grounds by mowing and edging lawns, trimming, transplanting, and pruning plants, grass, shrubbery, and trees, as well as watering and weeding to ensure an attractive and welcoming environment.

Ensure the cleanliness of roads, parking areas, and assigned spaces by gathering and removing trash and litter.

Assist with event setup and breakdown, including tents, chairs, tables, props, and supplies.

Provide support in moving furniture, collection items, equipment, and other materials as needed.

Perform general building and fixture repairs, including replacing screens, installing non-skid strips, repairing doors, windows, and locks, performing light carpentry, basic plumbing (e.g., unclogging drains, replacing washers, fixtures, and appliances), and painting.

Maintain and repair equipment and tools by cleaning, lubricating, and replacing defective parts; oversee maintenance of larger systems such as air conditioning units.

Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall operation and upkeep of the Museum.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge of and at least two years of experience in general maintenance and groundskeeping preferred

Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, and humidity. Duties involve regular exposure to noise, dust, and equipment associated with groundskeeping and general maintenance. The position also requires occasional indoor work to support facilities maintenance, event setup, and equipment repair.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift for extended periods of time. The role involves frequent use of hand tools and power equipment, handling and moving furniture, event supplies, and other materials. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and physical stamina.
