Your Key Responsibilities
The role of a Structural Designer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer. The Structural Designer will be able to perform structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems. Additional responsibilities include:
- Complete calculations and drawings for projects under Senior Engineer’s guidance.
- Works with and coordinates with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines
- Perform Construction Administration duties including completing field observations reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders
- Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owners/clients
- Have an understanding of industry standard design processes and understanding of construction means and methods
- Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service
- Assist with development of design standards
- Work in office minimum 4 days per week
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in written form, concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of architects, engineers, and owner/clients effectively.
- Experience with BIM modeling software Autodesk Revit
- Experience with general business and industry software (Microsoft Office suite) and Industry standard Structural Engineering software (ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, ENERCALC, etc.)
- Basic knowledge and understanding of structural building codes and requirements
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Education and Experience
- 0 – 3 years of related experience
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is required
- Must have passed the NCEES EIT examination
Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
