Truck Driver – Light (CDL) – U.S. Army Equipment Turn-In Site (Contractor)
The Truck Driver – Light is responsible for operating light and medium trucks (up to 10 tons) in support of Army equipment turn-in operations at a contractor-managed site. The driver ensures safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of materiel, tools, and small equipment between Army units, warehouses, and staging areas. This role requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and adherence to U.S. Army, DOT, OSHA, and contract requirements.
Responsibilities
Driving & Transportation Support
Operate light/medium trucks, stake beds, box trucks, and flatbeds for local pick-up and delivery of equipment, supplies, and Class IX repair parts.
Support unit turn-ins by transporting smaller vehicles, tool sets, and palletized loads between unit locations and the turn-in site.
Assist with loading, securing, transporting, and unloading cargo in compliance with Army and DOT regulations.
Vehicle Maintenance & Inspection
Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) before, during, and after missions.
Report deficiencies and ensure vehicles are properly maintained and serviceable.
Maintain driver logs, trip tickets, and inspection records in accordance with Army standards.
Documentation & Compliance
Verify and process transport documents (DA Form 1348-1A, DD Form 1149, shipping manifests).
Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Army regulations for safe cargo transport.
Update records in logistics systems or logs as required to maintain accountability.
Safety & Security
Comply with all Army and company safety requirements during loading/unloading and driving operations.
Ensure cargo is properly packaged, marked, and secured prior to movement.
Safeguard government property in transit and report accidents or incidents immediately.
Operational Support
Assist warehouse, supply, and transportation staff with staging, loading, and offloading.
Support mass turn-in operations by moving cargo between staging areas and storage/inspection locations.
Provide status updates to the Transportation Coordinator and Site Supervisor.
