- Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
- Promotes a favorable image of the school district. Supports community partnerships that enhance district programs and services.
- Maintains and services all heating and cooling plants.
- Makes recommendations to the Director of Maintenance for purchase of necessary parts for repairs.
- Repair equipment and make building repairs as needed.
- Conduce periodic inspections of the buildings to determine areas of needed repair.
- Avoids disrupting building activities, except during emergencies.
- Follows and assists in the promotion of approved safety procedures. Participates in safety training as directed. Complies with safety regulations and environmental laws.
- Establish inventory procedures for supplies, materials and equipment as assigned.
- Assist in the development and operation of maintenance records.
- Serve as a source of information on areas involving buildings and grounds.
- Performs grounds keeping duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
- Removes snow, ice, and debris as directed and serves as a member of the district snow removal crew.
- Picks up and delivers equipment, materials and other supplies as directed.
- Inspects safety equipment (e.g. emergency lights, alarm systems, ground fault protectors, etc.) as directed.
- Acts responsibly to protect district equipment and property. Takes appropriate action during adverse weather conditions.
- Understands and uses district crisis plan protocol to respond to emergencies.
- Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
- Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.
- Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
- Completes paperwork as required by the Director of Maintenance.
- Conduct other duties related to the Maintenance/Grounds Specialist position as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
- High School diploma
- Valid drivers’ license with good diving record
- Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCI and FBI ? Self-directed and able to learn quickly
- Ability to cooperate with others
- Demonstrates leadership ability.
- At least five years of experience in maintenance operations of physical plant and facilities or possess a license in one of the following trades: Electrical, Refrigeration, HVAC or Carpentry.
- Demonstrates technical knowledge regarding maintenance of school buildings and facilities including energy management systems.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer technology.
- Demonstrates leadership ability
- Possess and maintain Building Operators Certificate or obtain certificate within 24 months of employment.

Job Objectives:
Perform grounds and maintenance duties which relate to the school plant, school buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds. Accept the responsibility for the care, condition, appearance, repair or replacement of physical equipment, buildings, facilities and grounds as assigned.
