Key Responsibilities
• Maintain safety awareness and readiness at all times — guest safety comes first
• Supervise pools, splash areas, and slides; respond appropriately to emergencies
• Operate waterslides after successfully completing slide-operation training
• Clearly and courteously enforce pool rules and safety guidelines
• Assist and engage guests with friendly, professional communication
• Document incidents accurately and follow department procedures
• Support the cleanliness and organization of pool decks, furniture, and towel areas
• Demonstrate knowledge of pool facilities and property information
• Uphold Circus Circus uniform and appearance standards
• Assist with Splash Zone activities and other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Must be able to swim (swim test required if not lifeguard certified)
• Must maintain a professional, neat, well-groomed appearance
• Must be available to work varied shifts, including at least two weekend days (Fri/Sat/Sun) May–Aug
Certifications & Qualifications
• American Red Cross CPR/AED for Lifeguards — Required
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification — Required (Certification assistance may be available)
• Previous lifeguard experience preferred
• Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional in all guest situations
• Completion of required trainings (BBP, MSDS, Safety/HazCom, Orientation) within 10 days
• Ability to follow rescue procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies
• Strong listening, communication, and guest-service skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
Physical / Work Environment
• Ability to stand and move throughout pool areas for extended periods
• Ability to walk long distances and climb up to six stories
• Ability to carry or reposition pool equipment and towel bins up to 100 lbs
• Comfortable working outdoors in seasonal heat, cold, and inclement weather
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
• Able to work weekends and holidays as needed
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States required
Mandatory Swim Test
Completed continuously — no breaks, no touching the bottom
• 3 continuous laps
• 2-minute water tread (hands out of water)
• 3 additional continuous laps
Scheduling
• Pool Hours: 10am–5pm (Spring) | 10am–7pm (Summer)
• Opening/closing shifts may start earlier or end later
• Flexible scheduling with school accommodations available
• Shift trades allowed with advance notice and manager approval
