Our crews are made up of expert leads, journey level and apprentices, are supported by strong leadership and have a trusted commitment to safety and ethics. We have a dedicated safety team that supports our crews and each employee is provided training and development to succeed, empowering them to grow and advance. You will work with our team to do new construction, maintain existing facilities and respond to outages.
Residency Requirements
District: There are emergency response and travel requirements in this role. Because of this, the selected applicant will be required to meet the 25-minutes residency requirement under the contractual guidelines.
Resource: This position is responsible for taking after-hours emergency calls, responding to outages and trouble calls on the distribution system and customer services. Due to this the position has a residency requirement of 45-minutes from appointed operating center.
What you will do
Sets, guys and frames poles, towers and other structures.
Installs, splices and secures conductors.
Installs and maintains transformers, conductors, regulators, breakers, switches, fuses, street lighting equipment, lightning arrestors, etc.; (overhead and underground).
Works on energized lines and equipment. Works with live line maintenance tools, Keeps informed on and abides by the required Safety Rules, Operating Practices and codes pertaining to all phases of line work.
Maintains proper line clearances.
Trims trees.
May lead and assist in training others in the same or lower classifications.
Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience
Successful completion of line technician apprenticeship - (for journey level)
Satisfactory passage of line technician examination - (for journey level)
Other Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
This position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 382), and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good reading comprehension, mathematics skills
Demonstrated ability to do ordinary line construction, operating and maintenance work, line trouble shooting and transformer installation including three-phase and parallel banking
Reasonable knowledge of work order procedure and allocation of charges
Knowledge of the requirements of the State Electrical Code and company standards for line construction
Familiarity with live line maintenance tools and their use
Thorough knowledge of the Company Safety Rules and Operating Practices relating to line construction and maintenance
Ability to write clearly and concisely, make understandable diagrams, ability to express oneself orally
The ability to perform the physical requirements of the job
Sensitivity to public opinion and property owner's rights.
Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
