JOB TITLE: Membership Outreach Assistant (Seasonal)

LOCATION: Varies: Acadia National Park, FOA offices, other locations in Bar Harbor, Maine

REPORTING TO: JoAnne Wood, Development Manager

JOB STATUS: Seasonal non-exempt, 40 hours a week

EMPLOYMENT PERIODS: 

June 1-October 31, 2026

 

COMPENSATION:

$18.83/hr. paid every two weeks

 

JOB SUMMARY:  

Friends of Acadia seeks two tech-savvy, enthusiastic team members for the summer and fall season. Responsibilities include engaging park visitors, promoting FOA’s mission, encouraging memberships and donations, managing mobile payment systems and satellite technology, and assisting with volunteer scheduling at outdoor locations throughout Acadia National Park.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



Table Setup and Logistics (50%):

  • Manage on-site table and chair setup
  • Manage and restock Membership Table collateral and resources at table locations
  • Manage and set up on-site technology including mobile satellite wifi and mobile pay systems.
  • Assist volunteers at the table, engage visitors, and troubleshoot tech issues
  • Break down table and tech at the end of the day and secure items in storage
  • Responsible for securely transporting cash and other donations back to the FOA office in Bar Harbor daily for secure processing

 

Assist with managing volunteer scheduling (30%):

  • With oversight by the Development Manager, monitor and assist with volunteer signups and shift availability outreach.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping

 

Office and admin work as needed (20%):

  • Compile reports and data analysis
  • Monitor inventory of membership table printed pieces and other collateral
  • Assist with administrative tasks at the Bar Harbor office as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants will be required to pass a background check.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle for driving to job sites. Applicants will be expected to use their own automobiles and will be reimbursed for mileage beyond their daily commute.
  • Must be able to attend the seasonal employee orientation training in June.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Comfortable using and assisting others with technology, including mobile satellite devices, mobile payment systems, word processing, and data entry. Training will be provided on all of these systems; however, a baseline level of technological proficiency is required.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for engaging with volunteers and welcoming visitors from diverse backgrounds, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Strong interest in FOA’s mission and protecting Acadia National Park.



Hours: 40 hrs/wk, including holidays and weekends. Shift times can vary, but are generally between the hours of 8 am – 5:00 pm. Special events may require different hours. Employees will generally have 2 consecutive  days off per week. Unpaid days off can be scheduled with your supervisor. Employees earn one hour of paid leave for every 40 hours they work.
