American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Family Birth Center (L&D) position in Socorro, NM, requiring an NM or Compact RN license, NRP, and AWHONN fetal monitoring certification.
Details- 13-week contract at a hospital-based Family Birth Center (FBC/L&D) unit
- 12-hour day shifts, 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM, three days per week (36 hours/week)
- Labor patient ratio is 1:1; postpartum patient ratio is 1:2
- Patient population includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients
- Epic EMR used on-site; training available for candidates without prior Epic experience
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS (issued by AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum of 2 years of current L&D/FBC nursing experience required
- ADN or ASN degree required (minimum)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Antepartum responsibilities include triage assessment for patients >20 weeks, use of obstetric triage acuity tools, fetal evaluation, and stabilization or transfer for emergency medical conditions
- Intrapartum responsibilities include labor assessment and care, preparation for vaginal and cesarean deliveries, administration of obstetric medications (e.g., Pitocin, mag sulfate, labetalol, insulin), and immediate newborn stabilization
- Postpartum and newborn care includes hearing screens, lab draws, IV starts, medication administration (Hep B, Vit K, erythromycin), circumcision assistance, opiate withdrawal newborn care, phototherapy, and critical newborn stabilization for transport
- Candidates who were previously permanent staff at this health system must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
