Northwest Park - Administrative Aide (Part time)
The Town of Windsor, CT seeks an enthusiastic and friendly person to provide customer service and clerical support in the nature center at Northwest Park. Our mission is to foster an understanding and appreciation of nature and build community through educational and passive recreational experiences on 473 acres of natural habitats. The Administrative Aide serves as the frontline staff to assist visitors in the exhibit hall, gift shop, and park office.
This is a paid, year-round part-time position. Work schedule is 21 hours per week, Wednesday through Friday, 8:30am � 4:30pm. The hourly rate is $18.50 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact at the Nature Center by greeting visitors and answering phones; provide accurate information and assistance to the public
- Complete program registrations, facility rentals, and gift shop transactions; maintain planning calendars
- Prepare accounts receivable deposits for approval; follow cash handling procedures
- Oversee merchandising for the gift shop; order and organize products & displays
- Maintain organized and up-to-date office records
- Assist with general daily operations; prepare correspondence and reports
- Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma with relevant coursework; plus 2 years of clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Considerable knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based tools and resources
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow both oral and written instructions
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must be flexible, willing to learn new tasks, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment
