Facility Assistants work as a team with fellow FAs, supervisors, and directors to ensure the Fitness Center runs smoothly. Together, we provide excellent customer service to our students, the Mount community, and ARCC members. FAs are scheduled for 8 hours per week outside of classes and other excused extracurricular activities. Upon hiring, FAs will be given a manual that explains the position's expectations, including uniforms, cell phone policy, substitution policy, etc. The Office of Recreation and Wellness seeks students who will represent the team as professional, responsible, and dependable student leaders. Job Purpose:
The purpose of the Fitness Center Facility Assistant is to ensure those with access to the fitness center are using it in a safe manner. They are to have basic knowledge of the procedures and polices of the Fitness Center. Under the supervision of Fitness Program Coordinator as well as the Recreation and Wellness Supervisors, the Fitness Center Facility Assistants will closely monitor this area and ensure that the standards set forth by the Recreation and Wellness department are being always upheld.
Job Responsibilities:
- Enforce guidelines and promote safety within the Fitness Center
- Be knowledgeable and enforce Fitness Center policies and safety procedures
- Perform assigned cleaning responsibilities to maintain sanitation of the Fitness Center and its equipment
- Ensure all weights and accessories are racked after use
- Be attentive to and report equipment issues to RFS/Student Manager and/or Assistant Director
- Lead Fitness Center Orientations when needed
- Provide and uphold exceptional customer service
- Attend all staff meetings and training
- Verify valid ID’s and enter correct patron information into a shared document
- Complete inventory checklist every shift
- Have basic knowledge of the equipment in the Fitness Center
- Other duties assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled as a student at Mount St. Mary’s University
- Must be available for weekends/evenings
- Applicants are expected to be personable, organized, self-motivated and team oriented
- Applicants should possess skills in time management, problem solving and customer service
Salary and Hours
- Students are paid the current minimum wage for Maryland.
- Students will work a total of eight (8) hours per week.
