Shift Lead - Night Shift

Location: West Valley City, UT

Employment Type: Full-Time

Shift: Night Shift | 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (Monday–Friday)

 

Position Description

The Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing night-shift shipping operations and serving as

the on-site lead for the Picker/Packer(s) and Shipping Clerk(s). This role acts as the primary

point of accountability during the night shift, ensuring shipping and picking operations run

smoothly, goals are met, and compliance and safety standards are consistently maintained. The

Shipping Lead works independently with limited on-site management oversight and

communicates regularly with the daytime Shipping Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support Picker/Packer(s) and Shipping Clerk(s) during the night shift.
• Serve as the primary decision-maker and escalation point for picking, packing, and shipping issues during the shift.

• Ensure customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on schedule.
• Monitor daily shipping and picking performance against established goals and expectations.
• Motivate, coach, and hold team members accountable for accuracy, productivity, and adherence to procedures.
• Resolve inventory, picking, or shipping discrepancies in coordination with Inventory or daytime leadership as needed.
• Ensure compliance standards are followed when handling regulated products.
• Enforce safety procedures, OSHA standards, and proper workplace practices.
• Perform and oversee accurate data entry and transaction processing in the ERP system (Odoo).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shipping and picking area.
• Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, or recurring issues and recommend improvements.
• Communicate shift performance, issues, and handoffs clearly to daytime leadership.
• Perform hands-on shipping, picking, or packing tasks as workload requires.

 

Qualifications

• Prior experience in shipping, warehouse operations, or logistics required.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Odoo preferred).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold a team accountable.
• Effective decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to perform under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and professionalism.

 

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring a full range of motion.
