Position Overview
A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking a Site Safety & Health Manager (SSHO) to support the Operations Department by enforcing corporate safety and health policies and procedures. This role partners closely with field leadership and the Corporate Safety Director to promote a strong safety culture across active job sites.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct onsite safety inspections, safety orientations, and accident investigations
Supervise employee training related to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
Verify compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety regulations, ensuring all required records are properly maintained
Coordinate and manage participation in OSHA inspections, including providing documentation and identifying implemented safety measures
Serve as an advisor to the safety administration team regarding project operations, tasks, and incident prevention
Apply professional judgment and experience to plan, prioritize, and accomplish safety goals
Attend initial project meetings with project staff and subcontractor representatives to define safety roles and expectations
Research new health and safety regulations and industry developments, recommending updates to company safety programs
Identify and control hazardous working conditions and unsafe practices through site visits, safety planning, and education of supervisory personnel
Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall safety and operational objectives
Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in general construction, with an emphasis on construction and/or industrial safety
Strong understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety regulations
Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction industry
BCSP certification preferred
Electrical construction experience preferred
Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees, leadership, and project stakeholders
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation capabilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet-based applications
Thorough knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory agency standards
Ability and willingness to visit active construction sites as required
