American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Stepdown Unit position requiring NE or Compact licensure and telemetry drip management skills.

- Acute care Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit with 33 beds \n
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 \n
- Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatrics with diagnoses including sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and complex multisystem issues \n
- RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin \n
- CNAs available at a 1:10 ratio with fluctuating availability based on census \n
- Charge Nurse present each shift and takes a patient assignment \n
- RT equipment used includes BiPAP and Airvo \n
- Tele/Monitor Techs available on the unit, but RNs must read and interpret their own strips \n
- Uses EPIC EMR \n
- 12-hour night shifts, with schedules of 0630-1900 and 1830-0700 \n
- Every other weekend required \n
- Holiday coverage as needed to meet unit needs \n
- May float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care \n
- Unit is transitioning to a virtual nursing model that will increase ratios to 1:6, with each nurse assigned their own CNA and a dedicated virtual nurse supporting admissions, discharges, education, and care plans \n

- Active RN license, either single-state (NE) or Compact (NLC), required and must be active (not pending) at time of consideration \n
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required \n
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS \n
- EPIC EMR experience preferred \n
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility \n
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration \n
- Artificial fingernails are prohibited in all patient care areas \n
- \n
- Provide direct patient care in a busy stepdown unit with frequent admissions and discharges within the same shift \n
- Success on this unit favors nurses with strong teamwork skills, a positive attitude, and commitment to bedside report and hourly rounding \n
- First week of orientation includes classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor \n
- RNs must pass a pass/fail, open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% \n
- Navy blue scrubs required for RNs \n
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license \n
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year \n
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission \n
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment \n
