Junior Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team in West Columbus. This role is critical in supporting our daily financial operations, ensuring accurate driver settlements, and maintaining the financial health of our logistics network. You will work closely with the Controller to manage accounts payable/receivable and provide data-driven insights into our fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process carrier invoices, manage vendor payments, and ensure timely collections from shippers.

• Driver Settlements: Assist in calculating and auditing driver pay, including fuel surcharges, detention pay, and escrow accounts.

• Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations; manage fuel card accounts (e.g., Comdata or EFS) to identify discrepancies.

• General Ledger Support: Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and accruals.

• Regulatory Compliance: Support the filing of IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) and heavy vehicle use taxes (Form 2290).

• Reporting: Generate weekly aging reports and freight spend analysis for management review.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience: 0–2 years of accounting experience (internships in logistics or transportation are a plus).

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Sage).

• Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of the logistics industry, freight billing, or supply chain terminology is preferred.
