Safety Specialist - 3rd shift - Full-time

Our Fort Recovery Feed & Animal Division in Mercer and Darke counties, in Ohio, produces and delivers feed while providing support to our contract farmers raising animals for production. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a 3rd shift Safety Specialist to join our team in Fort Recovery.

The primary goal of this position is to assist the Safety Manager in the efficient and effective operation of all respective programs.

SHIFT HOURS: Monday through Friday, 3rd shift (11:00p - 7:30a)

STARTING RATE: From $19.50/hr

PERKS: Monthly and year-end profit-sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)

Job Functions:

• Assist the Safety Manager in the administration of all company safety programs.
• Have working knowledge of all aspects of the safety department including, but not limited to, all the responsibilities of the Safety Assistant.
• Take the lead and own at least two safety programs by reviewing, updating, implementing, training, and maintaining to ensure compliance.
• Conduct hazard analysis within the workplace. Inspect facilities, work areas, and equipment. Monitor work practices and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements and identify corrective actions.
• Be proficient in root cause analysis to be able to assist/train managers and supervisors in the investigation process to arrive at a sound corrective action to prevent further incidents.
• Investigate incidents and accidents to identify the root cause and how to mitigate the hazards identified.
• Prepare and distribute written reports on the findings.
• Continuous further education with attending safety specific programs/classes.
• Have attended a Cooper Farms Leadership class and demonstrates the skills needed to work across departments with managers and supervisors.
• Support the needs of production and other support departments through teamwork and understanding.
