About the Role
We are seeking qualified contractors to fulfill the role of a Full Stack Developer (Java). This position is ideal for seasoned professionals with a strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about building scalable, high-quality applications. You will work on mission-critical projects for a leading client in the communications and media industry, contributing to innovative solutions that drive business success. This opportunity is open to individuals located in Plano, TX.
Additionally, the role requires access to reliable internet and the ability to manage all responsibilities from a home office. The project hours of operations will be Monday - Friday, in which candidate must be available to work an 8-hour shift between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time.
Contractors will be engaged and paid by a third-party payroll supplier, BCforward, which will serve as the employer of record for tax and compliance purposes.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Design, develop, and maintain robust Java applications using Spring Boot, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Perform unit testing, participate in code reviews, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to maintain system reliability.
Deliverables or Project Scope
- Develop and implement event-driven architecture leveraging Kafka.
- Integrate and optimize data storage solutions using Cassandra.
- Deliver clean, efficient, and well-documented code aligned with project timelines.
- Support ongoing enhancements and maintenance for ecommerce-related applications.
Collaboration Tools or Platforms
- Jira or similar tools for task tracking and agile project management.
- Confluence for documentation and knowledge sharing.
- GitHub/GitLab for version control and code collaboration.
- Microsoft Teams for communication and virtual meetings.
- Hands on experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture
- Strong knowledge of Cassandra for distributed data management
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in Java and Spring Boot
- Minimum of 7-10 years' experience in software development experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services
- Experience with Redis for caching
- Knowledge of Spock or component testing frameworks
- Ecommerce industry experience (preferred but not mandatory)
