Job Description
THE ROLE
The Literacy Fellow role is a high-impact, early-career pathway designed to build deep expertise in the science of reading. Fellows receive intensive, research-based training that prepares them to support scholars from their first day in the classroom. In the first six months, Fellows complete both LETRS and Orton-Gillingham training, gaining the knowledge and tools needed to deliver explicit foundational skills instruction and high-quality intervention.
In the second year, Fellows step into co-teacher roles and work alongside experienced lead teachers who model strong instructional practices. Fellows apply their training through daily small-group instruction, targeted intervention, and shared responsibility for delivering rigorous, joyful reading lessons. Fellows may also choose to enroll in Relay Graduate School of Education to earn a Masters degree while continuing to build their craft.
This two-school year Fellowship builds a pipeline of highly skilled literacy educators who are grounded in structured literacy, responsive intervention, and the instructional systems that drive strong reading outcomes.
