Job Summary
The Floor Manager / Maître D’ is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the guest experience, maintaining service standards, and managing front-of-house operations. This position sets the tone for the dining room and ensures that service is seamless, professional, and consistently welcoming.
Compensation
- Up to $40,000 annual salary
- Salaried, non-tipped position
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead daily front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth service flow and exceptional guest experiences
- Hire, train, coach, and develop all front-of-house staff in elevated service standards
- Organize and conduct daily pre-shift meetings and departmental communication
- Create seating charts, station assignments, and service plans based on expected business levels
- Manage reservations systems and guest books to accommodate business demands
- Oversee schedules, payroll inputs, and administrative tasks to support labor and cost controls
- Assign and ensure completion of side work and closing duties
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the dining room and entry areas
- Communicate proactively with kitchen leadership and ownership to ensure service alignment
- Investigate and resolve guest concerns and complaints in a timely, professional, and diplomatic manner
- Ensure compliance with health codes, safety standards, and food handling regulations
Qualifications and Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in a management role within an upscale or fine dining restaurant
- Strong working knowledge of labor laws, health codes, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Food Handler certification required (or ability to obtain prior to opening)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Calm, professional presence with strong judgment under pressure
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and select holidays

Timeline
