Position: Maintenance Technician
Location: Suffolk, VA
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 5:30 pm (4-10’s) on call as needed.
Employment: Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: Competitive, based on experience
Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to support day-to-day operations at a professional facility in Suffolk, VA. This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who takes pride in high-quality workmanship, preventative maintenance, and delivering excellent customer service.
The technician will perform a wide range of general maintenance, repair, and facility support tasks, working a Monday–Thursday, four 10-hour shift schedule. This position offers the opportunity to work in a structured, safety-focused environment while supporting mission-critical operations.
Key responsibilities include facility upkeep, minor construction and carpentry, plumbing repairs, inspections, and coordination with subcontractors. The role also involves maintaining preventative maintenance schedules, documenting work, and communicating effectively with site leadership and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general corrective and preventative maintenance across the facility
- Repair walls, floors, doors, cabinets, and perform painting and touch-up work
- Conduct basic plumbing repairs, including toilets, urinals, valves, and sensor systems
- Build and repair small wood structures such as platforms, frames, and crates
- Perform exterior inspections and light landscape/grounds maintenance
- Maintain HVAC systems, including filter changes and coil cleaning
- Conduct quality control inspections of subcontractor work
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports using basic computer tools
- Coordinate with site leadership to prioritize service requests and ensure operational efficiency
- Participate in safety meetings and complete required training
- Support site operations and assist with facility oversight as needed
Required Skills / Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3–5 years of hands-on facilities or building maintenance experience
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one
- Strong working knowledge of general maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry
- Experience using woodworking tools (table saw, circular saw, router, drill press)
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and technical documentation
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills (email, documentation, reporting)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
