Job Summary:
\n Performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. The Surgery Tech is expected to support system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. Additionally, this role actively participates in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.

Required Qualifications:
\n - Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program.
\n - OR graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six (6) months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam).
\n - OR two (2) years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three (3) years.
\n - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.

Preferred Qualifications:
\n - Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery.
\n - OR Certified Surgical Technologist.

Job Responsibilities:
\n - Maintains accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
\n - Maintains the sterile field and ensures a safe environment.
\n - Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.
\n - Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure.
\n - May assist with sterile processing.
\n - Assists the surgeon(s) during the procedure while staying within the ORT scope of practice.
\n - Identifies emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.
\n - Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure upon completion of the procedure.

Additional Information:
\n - Demonstrates the ability to maintain a sterile field and ensure environmental safety.
\n - Demonstrates knowledge of surgical services and sterile processing.
\n - Has experience in surgeries support, life support situations, sterile field management, and sterilization processes.
\n - Has experience in supervision within surgical services (within ORT scope).
