This position works mostly one-on-one in a 4th grade classroom setting with a student who is non-verbal and has limited mobility. Due to the limited mobility, this position requires having the strength to help lift and reposition the student, and help with toileting.

Job Description

Purpose:

The Paraeducator II assists the Teacher in the delivery of an instructional program, through preparation of the classroom and materials in order to assist individual and small groups of students. The Paraeducator II also supports the planning and delivery of behavioral management and living skill development in a variety of school and life situations. The Paraeducator II supports and maintains individual student as well as the classroom management while supporting teacher- designed methods and materials with or without direct teacher supervision. This allows the student the opportunity to function autonomously in a school, work, and/or community living environment. The incumbent will provide supervision of student activities in order to ensure that the school maintains a safe and orderly environment.



This position requires an Associates Degree or passing scores on a qualifying exam. In order to meet the Requirements Qualifications of “a passing score on a qualifying state or local academic assessment", the Beaverton School District will accept passing scores from either the ETS ParaPro Assessment or ACT WorkKeys Assessment.  For more information on these two tests and where to sign up, click .
