We are currently hiring an experienced Transportation Assistant to join our Shipping team!
The right candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and have previous shipping experience. We are an aggressively growing company looking for candidates seeking long-term employment that will mature and develop with our business and want to be rewarded for their positive contribution.
Daily/General Tasks:
- Pick and pull hardware and incomplete production orders
- Palletize, wrap, and band freight
- Operate forklift - load/unload freight
- Quote all freight orders
- Provide weights and dimensions for freight orders
- Update excel and google sheets with proper and accurate information in real-time
- Run daily reports, set up the freight board, and keep board organized based on transit priority
- Print the proper documentation for domestic and international shipments, double-check to ensure nothing is missing
- Create placards for pallets with the right information like; Order # City, Zip code and carrier name
- Cover Supervisor in absence and ensure all procedures are followed
- Run updates on shipments from previous days
- Track and monitor all freight
- Close out orders
- Provide customer support
- Provide sales team support
- Book all freight orders
- Quote and book all freight and messenger orders
- Audit and ensure that all freight is handled correctly
- Provide transportation solutions
- Create a good work relationship with carriers and brokers
- Provide advice and moral support to all coworkers
- Make tough last-minute decisions
- Maintain a backlog of all shipments
- File claims with carriers
- Audit orders
- Take/upload pictures of orders
- Time management
Minimum Requirements:
- Able to lift 50-75 lbs.
- Ability to drive a forklift
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures
- Wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) where needed
- Immediately report any unsafe conditions or other safety-related issues
- Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review panels and/or print functions).
- Tradeshow experience is a plus

1 Week:
- ISO and Continuous Improvement training completed
- 1st Day HR training and review of company policies & employee handbook
- Learn to read production work orders, receives training on how to read an order
- Trained on work-flow, basic department function and leadership “go-to” resources
- Trained on in-process quality control expectations for the position
30 Days:
- Working knowledge of CRM
- Working knowledge of TMS
- Knows points of contact in other departments:
- Supervisors
- Team Leads
- Employee should start meeting quantity expectations while maintaining quality
- Proficient on the items reviewed in week 1
90 Days:
- Solid understanding of warehouse and workflow
- Solid knowledge of quoting
- Weights and dimensions
- Expedite quotes
- Standard LTL Quotes
- Working knowledge of sewing/finishing products:
- Basic Formulate Graphics
- Outdoor Tents
- Employee should meet quantity expectations while maintaining quality
- Proficient on the items reviewed in week 1 & 30 days
- Proficient on all daily/general tasks
- Invoicing
- Quoting
- Booking
- Creating processes
- Solid understanding of all subjects in week 1 and 30 days
- Solid understanding and execution of daily tasks
