Description
A Panel Builder II is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and troubleshooting of electrical control panels. This role requires proficiency in reading electrical prints, understanding standard wiring practices, and applying technical skills to ensure high-quality panel assembly. Candidates at this level have become aware of and are beginning to understand timeline and project budget demands.
Primary Responsibilities:
Panel Assembly and Wiring
Assemble electrical control panels in compliance with schematics, layout specifications, and are paying attention to UL508A standards.
Wire panel devices with accuracy and proficiency using standard wiring practices, including knowledge of wire colors and their associated protections.
Perform detailed tasks such as stripping, cutting, labeling, and terminating wires with precision.
Install brackets and other components required in panel builds.
Troubleshooting and Testing
Conduct functional testing of assembled panels to verify operational integrity.
Identify and resolve wiring or assembly issues mostly independently.
Becoming proficient marking up and revising electrical prints as needed to reflect accurate designs and changes.
Tool Proficiency and Workplace Management
Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively for panel-building tasks.
Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe workspace to support production efficiency and safety compliance.
Project Management Awareness
Work within established timelines and budgets, demonstrating an understanding of project demands.
Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project quality and adherence to deadlines.
Adherence to Standards
Learn how to apply Ul508A standards and begin implementing them in panel construction and demonstrate familiarity with relevant electrical codes.
Read and comprehend equipment manuals to ensure proper installation and functionality of components.
Requirements
Technical Skills
Basic proficiency in interpreting and marking up electrical schematics, diagrams, and layout drawings.
Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring techniques, and protection practices.
Experience with various electrical components and their applications.
Experience
3–5 years of experience in panel building.
Demonstrated ability to produce detailed and accurate work.

Adherence to safety protocols and procedures in all tasks performed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Good driving record and reliable transportation for work tasks.
Capacity to pass drug screenings as required internally and by clients.

Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs. safely.
