Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repair, and service of fleet trucks and heavy equipment.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Perform highly skilled and complex mechanical repairs on heavy equipment, including, but not limited to excavators, loaders, graders and commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to do math, follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.

Task and Work Activities:

  • Ensure all repairs and preventative maintenance are completed according to the manufacture's specifications and guidelines.
  • Provide safe and reliable vehicles upon completion of repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Perform servicing company vehicles and equipment according to company procedures as required.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Identify and report vehicle and machine damage, safety concerns and malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system.
  • Observes all Federal, State, Local and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
  • Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with drivers, operators, and technicians.
  • Diagnose causes of any malfunction and perform repair.
  • Inspects equipment conditions (wear, alignment, function, etc.) and monitors oil flow and temperature observing gauges to measure performance.
  • Work hours adjusted to meet the project's needs, days, nights and weekends.
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions, hot or cold temperatures.

Education, Requirements and Experience:

  • 2 + years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and machinery
  • Some welding and fabrication experience is preferred
  • Experience utilizing aftertreatment systems, CAT, ET, and SIS.
  • You must have your own and be skilled in the operation of a variety of tools and equipment used in the repair of trucks and heavy equipment.
